Rose of Jericho

My friend called me up one day and said she had a present for me. A rose. How sweet, I thought. Until I saw this ugly bundle of dead roots. What is that?! She laughed and told me it was called a Rose of Jericho (also Resurrection Rose). I held it in my hands and asked what it was for. Prosperity rituals. My favorite kind. She told me to place it in a shallow bowl, add a bit of water and look at it again the next morning. I was amazed when I woke up the next morning to find the dead thing ALIVE. A resurrection. A symbol of RESTORATION. How your life, circumstances and finances can come back from nothing. I like to add a bit of lavender (and just a teeny drop of cinnamon) to the water. I’ve been taught to keep the flower on 3 days at a time to prevent the flower from rotting. These days I change the water each day, save all the water that the rose as soaked in, pray over it and then add it to the floor and sidewalk washes for my businesses.
